DeepTorque Subsea Motor Drivers

Precise motor control for subsea propulsion.

DeepTorque is a family of subsea motor drivers purpose-built for underwater propulsion, thrusters, pumps, winches, and actuators. Combining high-performance motor control with a rugged deep-sea enclosure, the series is available in low-voltage, 400 VDC, and 800 VDC classes and drives a wide range of subsea motors — delivering up to 20 kW continuous and 150 Arms. Each subsea propulsion driver integrates closed-loop current, torque, and speed control, full protection, diagnostics, and CAN / RS-485 communication in one sealed, pressure-rated housing engineered for reliable operation from 300 m down to 2000 m.

  • All-in-one motor controlIntegrated current, torque, speed, and regenerative torque control in one compact subsea drive.
  • Wide voltage rangeLow-voltage (20–58 V), 400 VDC, and 800 VDC versions for a broad range of subsea motors and actuators.
  • High power densityCompact inverter architecture delivers up to 20 kW continuous, with motor currents up to 150 Arms.
  • Precise closed-loop controlClosed-loop current, torque, and speed control for accurate propulsion, pump, winch, and actuator operation.
  • Regenerative operationTractive and regenerative torque control recovers energy during deceleration or reverse loading.
  • Advanced motor compatibilitySupports resolver, xMR, absolute encoder, and validated sensorless motor-control configurations.
  • Integrated protection & deratingOver-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature protection with automatic speed and thermal power derating.
  • Dual CAN communicationTwo CAN channels plus RS-485 for command, configuration, calibration, monitoring, and real-time diagnostics.
  • Rugged deep-sea enclosureAluminium or Titanium housings rated to 2000 m (other depths available).
  • Functional-safety designDesigned in accordance with ISO 26262 principles, supporting integration toward ASIL D.

FAQ

Subsea motor driver FAQs

What is a subsea motor driver?

A subsea motor driver is a sealed, pressure-rated motor drive that controls electric motors underwater — for thrusters, propulsion, pumps, winches, and actuators. DeepTorque delivers closed-loop current, torque, and speed control in one rugged deep-sea enclosure.

Can DeepTorque drive subsea thrusters and propulsion motors?

Yes. DeepTorque is designed as a subsea propulsion driver for thrusters and propulsion motors, as well as pumps, winches, and actuators, with up to 20 kW continuous power and 150 Arms.

What voltages does DeepTorque support?

Three classes: low-voltage (20–58 V), 400 VDC, and 800 VDC, covering a broad range of subsea motors and actuators.

How deep can DeepTorque operate?

Standard depth ratings are 300 m, 1000 m, and 2000 m, in Aluminium or Titanium housings. Other depths are available on request.

What motor feedback and communication are supported?

Resolver, xMR, absolute encoder, and validated sensorless control; command and monitoring over dual CAN and RS-485.
