SAMIN Subsea Smart eFuse

Resettable, programmable, remote-controlled subsea protection.

SAMIN is a smart electronic fuse (eFuse) for subsea machinery and power systems — a resettable, programmable, and remote-controlled alternative to traditional one-shot fuses. It combines intelligent bidirectional current limiting, inrush control, and sub-2 µs short-circuit protection with continuous predictive monitoring of current, voltage, temperature, and power. Supporting up to 450 VDC (SAMIN400) and 850 VDC (SAMIN800) at 100 A or 300 A, SAMIN learns each load’s normal behaviour to tell real faults from harmless transients, and it reports faults and resets remotely over RS-485 / Modbus RTU. Available as a bare PCBA, a DIN-rail module, or packed in a pressure-rated subsea enclosure depth-rated to 4000 m, SAMIN suits ROVs, Li-ion battery systems, DC motor controllers, and power distribution units.

  • Resettable protectionConfigurable latch or auto-retry reset — no blown fuse to replace on the seabed, unlike a traditional one-shot fuse.
  • Programmable current limitsSoftware-set current limits (0.5–120 A on SAMIN400, 1–350 A on SAMIN800) with user-defined trip thresholds.
  • Remote control & resetRemote configuration, threshold adjustment, fault reporting, and reset over RS-485 / Modbus RTU.
  • Ultra-fast protectionSub-microsecond (< 2 µs) short-circuit response, with bidirectional current limiting and inrush control.
  • Predictive monitoringContinuous current, voltage, temperature, and power monitoring with trend-drift detection, load learning, and a thermal-stress counter.
  • Learning-based logicAdapts to each load’s normal profile to distinguish real faults from transients and reduce false trips.
  • High-voltage capableRated to 450 VDC (SAMIN400) and 850 VDC (SAMIN800) for modern HVDC subsea and battery systems.
  • PCBA, DIN-rail, or subsea enclosureAvailable as a bare PCBA for OEM integration, a DIN-rail module for cabinet or topside mounting, or packed in a pressure-rated subsea enclosure for deployment to 4000 m.

FAQ

Subsea smart fuse FAQs

What is a subsea resettable fuse?

A subsea resettable fuse is an electronic fuse (eFuse) that trips to protect a circuit and is reset rather than replaced. SAMIN offers configurable latch or auto-retry reset, so there is no blown fuse to swap out at depth.

Is SAMIN a programmable fuse?

Yes. SAMIN is a programmable electronic fuse: current limits and trip thresholds are set in software (0.5–120 A on SAMIN400, 1–350 A on SAMIN800), with configurable control modes and diagnostics.

Can the fuse be controlled remotely?

Yes. Over RS-485 / Modbus RTU you can remotely configure thresholds, monitor status, report faults, and reset the fuse — a fully remote-controlled subsea fuse.

How does predictive monitoring for subsea machinery work?

SAMIN continuously measures current, voltage, temperature, and power, then applies trend-drift detection, load learning, repetitive-inrush detection, and a thermal-stress counter to flag abnormal conditions before they cause failure.

How deep can SAMIN be deployed?

SAMIN is available as a bare PCBA for OEM integration, as a DIN-rail module for cabinet or topside mounting, or packed in a pressure-rated subsea enclosure depth-rated up to 4000 m.
